Years ago, Wan revealed images and details about his original vision for the main demon, Valak, in The Conjuring 2, which was a very different design than The Nun, which was added afterward, replacing the original design completely. The Nun 2 is currently in production and slated for a 2023 release, with Aarons reprising the iconic role for the third time. The Corin Hardy-directed film was a massive success, grossing $365 million worldwide, making it the most successful of The Conjuring franchise to date. The Nun would go on the get her own spinoff prequel film, which was released in 2018, once again starring Aarons as the titular character.
